Fundraising

We are always amazed and extremely grateful when people go out of their way to raise money for cystic fibrosis services. Some people are motivated by a family member or friend living with CF, and some people have heard about the disease in the press and offer to help.

As a result of fundraising in the past, we have been able to buy pieces of equipment to help in CF care, upgrade the side room facilities on ward 34, as well as numerous other things that improve the care and the quality of life for people accessing their CF care here in York.

Donations, big or small, make a huge difference to the service and to people living with CF who access their care in York. Donations can be used to buy equipment (which we would dedicate to you or in the name of someone you which to recognise), to fund educational grants or research, or to fund simple but effective commnication services, such as printing the newsletters.

If you are interested in helping to raise funds for York CF Unit, please either contact the team at cystic.fibrosis@york.nhs.uk, or the hospital fundraising team on lucy.watson@york.nhs.uk or telephone 01904 721737. You can read more about fundraising and our York Teaching Hospital Charity here.

The CF Trust is a charitable organisation who do amazing work improving the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. They often organise national fundraising events, and can be contacted at www.cftrust.org.uk or 0300 373 1100.

Right now across the UK, there are around 6,500 people in need of an organ transplant, including around 150 children and teenagers. On average three people die every day in need of an organ transplant because there just aren’t enough organ donors.
